    As the Systems Engineer you will be responsible for deploying, managing, and supporting systems and networking infrastructure.  The right candidate will be self motivated and eager to tackle technical challenges.  We are seeking an individual with a wide knowledge base to include a strong background in the following areas: Linux/Solaris, server virtualization, networking, storage technologies, configuration management, system and network monitoring.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manage 100+ linux/solaris/windows servers in a largely remote environment
    • Deploy, configure, and maintain server and network hardware
    • Respond to, identify, and resolve server and network issues
    • Assist with designing and implementing available/scalable hosting environments
    • Create and maintain documentation for installation and maintenance procedures
    • Manage various sizable RDBMS to include MySQL and Postgres
    • Help deploy and manage backup and Disaster Recovery strategies

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 5+ years experience with enterprise Linux/Solaris environments
    • RedHat 4.x AS/ES, 5.x EL, Solaris (10+)/Opensolaris
    • Strong background with high traffic web hosting
    • Experience configuring and managing apache, ruby, java, tomcat
    • Proficient scripting/programming abilities (shell, perl, php, python, ruby, etc)
    • Experience with Windows Server 2003/2008, and MS SQL desirable
    • Remote server and network management experience
    • Server virtualization with Xen and VMware
    • Administrative experience with MySQL and Postgres databases
    • A strong understanding of TCP/IP networks, and familiarity with managing network equipment to include routers, switchgear, and load balancers
    • Experience with various services/protocols: smtp, dns, snmp, ldap, dhcp, nfs, cifs/samba, drbd
    • Familiarity with network boot protocols and network OS installations utilizing kickstart, jumpstart, ghost

    Other desirable areas of knowledge: Disaster Recovery planning, SAN storage (EMC Clariion), VOIP/PBX.
